Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Pool Safety Certificate?

A Pool Safety Certificate (Form 23) is an official document issued by a QBCC-licensed pool safety inspector. It confirms that your pool barrier meets Queensland’s safety standards and helps protect children from drowning.

When do I need a Pool Safety Certificate?

You legally need one when:

  • Selling a property with a pool or spa
  • Signing a new lease on a rental property with a pool
  • Owning a shared or body-corporate pool (including holiday rentals on the islands)
Even if not required, keeping your pool compliant is essential for safety.

How long is a Pool Safety Certificate valid?

• 2 years for private residential (non-shared) pools
• 1 year for shared or body-corporate pools

What does a pool safety inspection involve?

Our inspector thoroughly checks the entire barrier, gates, latches, hinges, non-climbable zones, and CPR signage. The inspection usually takes 20–30 minutes. We also provide practical advice if any minor adjustments are needed.

What happens if my pool doesn’t pass the inspection?

You will receive a Form 26 Nonconformity Notice listing the issues. You then have time to make repairs. Once fixed, we can re-inspect and issue the certificate if it passes. We include up to 30 minutes of basic repairs during the initial visit at no extra charge.

How much does a pool safety certificate cost?

Prices vary by location. See our full transparent pricing here. Most compliant pools receive their certificate the same day.

Can I check if my pool already has a valid certificate?

Yes. Search the official QBCC Pool Safety Register.

Do you service island properties?

Yes. We regularly inspect pools on North Stradbroke Island and the Bay Islands (Russell, Macleay, Lamb, Karragarra and surrounds). We understand the extra challenges of coastal and island fencing.

What should I do before the inspector arrives?

Clear climbable objects away from the fence, ensure gates can swing freely, and remove any items blocking access. A quick tidy makes the inspection smoother.

Are you fully licensed and insured?

Yes. All our inspectors are QBCC-licensed, fully insured, and locally based in the Redlands / bayside area.
